You may have seen profile image in user profile in wordpress and also this profile picture also appears in comments conversation in wordpress. The thing is how you can add this avatar or image to your profile in wordpress. There is no direct option to add user profile image in wordpress backend. WordPress has created a website for this purpose. The website name is gravatar.com and I will describe you how to create your profile image through this site.

You have to first create an account on gravatar.com. There are two options to create an account:-

1. Create a new account
2. Login with wordpress.com account

I login with my wordpress.com credential (username and password). If you create a new account then user the same email address you use for wordpress at the backend. I mean to say your email address of admin of wordpress or any other email address you associate with wordpress.

You can also add other email addresses to your gravatar.com account. When you attach your new email address then you will get a confirmation link in your email address by which you can verify your email address.

You can upload an avatar to gravatar.com by your computer, any website link or if you have webcam attached to your pc then you can also take picture from webcam.

When you upload the picture then you can crop the picture to fit your needs.

Final step is to tell if this picture is appropriate for all users or strict for some users as shown in picture.

When you done uploading your picture then you have to grant access to wordpress.com account or if you are using wordpress.org then no other step needed. Your image start appearing in your user profile and in comments.

If you want to change the profile picture, just login to gravatar.com account and change the picture or upload a new one.

It is that easy, I struggle a lot to find this. Now my profile picture is visible in comments on all my blogs.
